About HonKao Enterprises
HonKao Enterprises, Inc. is a software company based in Boston. We build software for professional services. Today that means attorneys, through our product Plani.
The company is operated by Adam Honig and Justin Kao. They have worked together for over 20 years and previously built and sold two companies. HonKao Enterprises is their current business.
Our work is narrow on purpose. Professionals who bill for their time lose money on the administrative side of it, and most of the software built for that problem assumes people will sit down at a computer and do data entry. Plani starts from the opposite assumption. Attorneys text what they did as they do it, and the software handles the rest.
The people
We hate billing too, which is why we built this.
For years Adam did the CPCS eBill data entry and private-client invoicing for his wife, a Boston bar advocate. That is where both the billing headache and this product came from.
Our product
Plani is a text-message billing assistant for attorneys. Its primary users are Massachusetts bar advocates, who are court-appointed attorneys billing through CPCS and CJA. Attorneys opt in by text and use it entirely over text message. There is no app to download.
